Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced

Microsoft has unveiled the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct: January 23rd, 2025. This marks the third annual installment of the event, kicking off the 2025 Xbox game showcase season. The event will stream live on YouTube and Twitch at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT. This announcement follows earlier rumors circulating around a January 9th reveal.

Confirmed Games:

The showcase will feature in-depth looks at three highly anticipated titles:

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive (France), slated for a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
  • Doom: The Dark Ages: From id Software, this new entry in the Doom franchise was initially announced in June 2024 and showcased at QuakeCon 2024. A mid-2025 release is currently speculated.
  • South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game developed by Compulsion Games (Canada), the creators of Contrast and We Happy Few. Announced in June 2023, a release date is eagerly awaited.

Beyond the Confirmed Titles:

Previous Xbox Developer Directs have exceeded 40 minutes in length, showcasing multiple games. The 2024 event featured titles such as Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana. It's highly likely the 2025 event will similarly offer additional surprises beyond the currently announced titles.
