Nonograms, also known as Hanjie, Griddlers, Picross, and other names, are picture logic puzzles where you color or leave blank cells in a grid based on numbers alongside it to reveal a hidden image. These numbers represent the lengths of unbroken lines of filled squares in each row or column. For instance, a clue of "4 8 3" indicates three groups of filled squares (four, eight, and three), separated by at least one blank square.

Solving involves logically determining which cells are filled (boxes) and which are empty (spaces). Identifying spaces is crucial, as they help constrain the placement of box groups later in the process. Players often use dots or crosses to mark confirmed spaces. Guessing is strongly discouraged, as a single mistake can ruin the entire solution.
