Charlie Cox Reflects on Unchanged 'Daredevil' Episode He Disliked

by Brooklyn Aug 03,2025

The journey from script to screen for Daredevil: Born Again involved numerous revisions, but Episode 5 remained unaltered, despite being the least favored by star Charlie Cox.

“I’ll share this tidbit: one episode stayed exactly as originally filmed,” Cox said in a recent interview with The Playlist.

“It’s the bank episode, shot before the strike. It was part of the initial draft, and honestly, it didn’t sit right with me.”

Cox told the outlet he resisted the episode as much as he could. It centers on Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, caught in a bank heist while seeking a loan for the law firm he runs with Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll).

“It felt like something out of the 1970s,” Cox remarked. “With today’s technology, the robbery setup seemed too simplistic, and the theft device lacked sophistication.”

Despite his reservations, Cox noted that fans embraced the episode enthusiastically.

“I fought hard against it, but I keep hearing fans loved it. It just shows how subjective taste is,” Cox said. “I’ve learned it’s one of the top-rated episodes, even among Disney’s highest-ranked shows.”

We also praised Episode 5 in our review of Daredevil: Born Again Episodes 5 and 6, noting: "It’s executed brilliantly. I can’t recall the last time a Marvel show kept me smiling throughout and held my attention from start to finish. This episode highlights what makes Matt Murdock such a compelling hero, even out of costume."
