Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Experience

Love Sudoku and want to challenge friends? Battle of Sudoku is a multiplayer version where you compete against other players or teams. The goal remains the same: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so each column, row, and 3x3 subgrid contains all digits from 1 to 9.

Before starting, adjust the difficulty (1-6, 1 being easiest, 6 hardest) in the game options. This sets the initial numbers, which all players must solve simultaneously. Everyone begins with the identical puzzle.

Game Modes:

The game offers two modes, configurable in the options:

• Show Opponent's Correct Numbers: Each correctly placed number is visible to all players. Only the first player to correctly place a number earns points. Duplicate numbers are disallowed.
• Hide Opponent's Correct Numbers: Players cannot see each other's correct numbers, allowing for multiple players to potentially earn points for the same number.

Time-Outs:

Incorrect entries result in a time-out, preventing the player from making further moves while others continue. The time-out duration is customizable (default: 30 seconds).

Points:

Correct numbers earn points, with higher difficulty levels awarding more points per correct entry. Incorrect entries deduct points (half the value of a correct entry).

Winning the Game:

The game ends when the puzzle is solved. The player with the most points wins. If "Show Opponent's Correct Numbers" is disabled, the game ends when one player solves it, though this doesn't grant extra points; other players can still win by making fewer mistakes.

Team vs. Individual Play:

A team mode allows two teams to compete. Players select their team (1 or 2) upon joining. A minimum of two players per team is required. Points are added to the team's total score, and notes/filled colors are shared among teammates, enabling collaborative strategies.

Solving Tools:

A toolbar under the puzzle provides tools:

• Pen Tool: Add notes to empty squares using the pen icon. Clicking a square with a selected number adds that number as a note; clicking again removes it.
• Fill Mode: Change the background color of squares using the paint bucket icon.
