Edwards' Twitter post showcased never-before-seen images, including the title card ("The Invincible Iron Man"), the Genepool Software logo, and gameplay screenshots. A subsequent post featured Xbox gameplay footage, displaying the startup screen and a tutorial segment set in a desert environment. This project followed the studio's release of X-Men 2: Wolverine’s Revenge.
Activision's Decision to Cancel "The Invincible Iron Man"
Despite enthusiastic fan response, Activision canceled "The Invincible Iron Man" shortly after development began. Genepool Software subsequently closed, leaving the team unemployed. While Activision hasn't publicly explained the cancellation, Edwards offered several possibilities: delays in the film's release, dissatisfaction with the game's quality, or the potential involvement of another developer.
Commenters noted Tony Stark's design differed significantly from the later MCU portrayal by Robert Downey Jr. The game's design more closely resembled the "Ultimate Marvel" comic book version from the early 2000s. Edwards stated he was unaware of the reasoning behind the design choice. He promised more gameplay footage, but at the time of writing, this has yet to materialize.
