Atelier Resleriana’s Upcoming Spinoff
Moves Away from Gacha System
Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & The White Guardian, an upcoming spinoff game, won’t have a gacha system, unlike its mobile predecessor, Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, as announced on Twitter(X) by Koei Tecmo Europe on November 26, 2024.
Koei Tecmo made an important announcement that the new Aterlier Resleriana game won’t feature a gacha system. In most gacha games, players will inevitably hit a wall where they must farm or purchase items to progress. With that being said, players do not have to purchase gems to unlock characters or powerful items.

Aside from having no gacha system in place, the announcement also mentioned that the game "can be enjoyed offline" without the need to play its mobile predecessor. The game’s website also mentioned that, "New protagonists and an original story await in Lantarna," indicating that the game shares the same world but not necessarily the previous characters and their lore.
Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian will be released on PS5, PS4, Switch, and Steam in 2025. Koei Tecmo has yet to reveal the price, release date, or time at this moment.
Atelier Resleriana’s (Mobile) Gacha System

Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator is one of the mainline games for the Atelier series, featuring a gacha system. This game serves as the basis for the upcoming Atelier Resleriana game.
Despite having the traditional Atelier series formula, including the synthesis system and turn-based combat mechanics, this game features a gacha mechanic where players must spend money to strengthen or unlock new characters.

A "spark" system is applied to its gacha mechanics, as players can obtain various numbers of medals each pull to unlock a character or a Memoria, illustration cards of famous scenes from the Atelier series. Players must spend a specific number of gems for each pull and collect medals to claim their reward. This system differs from the pity
mechanic, which guarantees a drop after a set number of pulls.
This game was released in January 2024 on Steam, Android, and iOS. Currently, it has a Mixed review rating on Steam, while it enjoys a 4.2/5 score on Google Play and 4.6 on the App Store. Despite the high positive review scores on its mobile version, some Steam players have issues with the game, like its expensive gacha mechanic.
