Paradox Adjusts Bloodlines 2 Clan DLC Plans Post-Backlash

by Adam Oct 15,2025

Paradox appears to be reconsidering its controversial decision to make two vampire clans exclusive to DLC in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 following fan backlash.

The uproar started when developers confirmed Bloodlines 2 would initially feature just four playable clans: Brujah, Tremere, Banu Haqim, and Ventrue. While these offer diverse gameplay approaches, this limited selection falls short of the original cult classic's seven clan options.

The Chinese Room later announced two additional clans (Lasombra and Toreador), but currently only makes them available through the $21.99 Shadows and Silk DLC or the $89.99 Premium Edition - compared to the $59.99 standard edition. These day-one DLC additions created frustration among fans feeling priced out of the "complete" experience.

Controversy escalated during gamescom 2025 when a Paradox representative defended the move as a "business decision." However, Discord comments from community developer DebbieElla now hint at impending changes:

"We've heard your concerns regarding Lasombra and Toreador clan access and are implementing launch adjustments accordingly. More details coming soon."

While specifics remain unclear, fans hope Paradox will include both clans in the base game. Such a reversal could ease tensions before Bloodlines 2's October 21 release, though this raises questions about Premium Edition buyers' compensation.

Following a troubled development cycle with multiple delays, this release proves critical for Paradox. Walking back their DLC strategy might now represent the publisher's best chance for success with this highly anticipated vampire RPG.
