Uth Duna, a leviathan-type monster, first appears in the Scarlet Forest during Chapter 1's mission questline. After defeating Lala Barina and Congalala, you'll join Alma, Olivia, and Erik investigating a nearby dam. The weather takes a dramatic turn, triggering a monsoon and revealing Uth Duna in Mission 1-5: Beyond the Deluge. Your mission: defeat the beast before it wreaks further havoc.

Aptly nicknamed "A Feast in the Deep," Uth Duna emerges when the Scarlet Forest floods. As the region's apex predator, it's a tougher fight than previous encounters.

Before engaging, equip a thunder-element weapon (if available—Rey Dau in Mission 2-2 is a good source) and gear/talismans (like Water Charm I) for increased water resistance. A hearty meal boosts health and stamina, and bring Nulberries to counteract Uth Duna's Waterblight status ailment.

Uth Duna's Attacks and Weaknesses

Uth Duna's iridescent fins act as a temporary defensive "Veil," slowing its movement. Breaking the veil increases vulnerability but also makes Uth Duna more aggressive.

Key attacks to watch out for: Belly Slam, Roar, Body Coil, Aerial Twirl, and Leg Swipe. Its weak points are its Head (breakable), Mouth, Tail (breakable), and Forelegs (both breakable). Consult your Field Guide after your first encounter for detailed weakness information.

Capture or Kill?

Capture or kill—the choice is yours. To capture, weaken Uth Duna until exhausted, then use Shock Traps or Pitfall Traps followed by Tranq Bombs. Both methods yield rewards, but the specific items differ.
