Games Workshop Awards $27M Staff Bonus After Record Year

The success streak continues for Games Workshop, creator of Warhammer 40,000, as the company announces £20 million (approximately $27 million) in staff bonuses.

The Nottingham-based tabletop gaming giant reported strong financial growth for the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025. Core revenue reached £560 million (up from £494.7 million), while licensing revenue climbed to £50 million (from £31 million). Operating profits showed similar growth - core profit increased to £210 million (from £174.8 million) and licensing profit rose to £45 million (from £27 million), resulting in total pre-tax profits of £255 million (up from £203 million).

Generous Staff Recognition

Celebrating these record profits and acknowledging employee contributions, Games Workshop will distribute £20 million among its workforce - surpassing last year's £18 million bonus pool. The equal distribution model means each of the estimated 1,500 employees will receive approximately £13,333 ($18,000).

While known primarily for its miniature wargaming systems, Games Workshop has significantly expanded into intellectual property licensing. Recent successes include the critically acclaimed Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 video game and Amazon's Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level animation. The company has also partnered with Amazon and Henry Cavill to develop a Warhammer 40,000 cinematic universe, alongside ongoing development of Space Marine 3.

Sustained Growth Outlook

Games Workshop acknowledges licensing revenue reached record levels this period but anticipates normalization in 2025/26, while maintaining strategic focus on IP expansion. The Warhammer franchise continues its remarkable growth trajectory, showing no signs of slowing down.

The company recently hosted its annual Warhammer Skulls showcase, revealing major developments including Dawn of War: Definitive Edition and Space Marine 2's Siege mode.
