Arrowhead Reassures Fans About Helldivers 2 Commitment

Arrowhead Game Studios has responded to player concerns about potentially shifting focus from Helldivers 2 to its next project, currently referred to as "Game 6."

Following the recent explosive launch of the Illuminate invasion event, CEO Shams Jorjani addressed the community in the official Helldivers 2 Discord channel.

"Thanks to your incredible support, we now have the resources to explore exciting new concepts," Jorjani stated. "Game 6's development will be shaped by this community's passion."

Development Priorities Clarified

When fans expressed concern that talk of a new project might indicate reduced support for Helldivers 2, Jorjani provided reassurance:

"Our primary focus remains entirely on Helldivers 2. A minimal team will begin conceptual work later this year, but we're committed to supporting Helldivers 2 long-term."

Regarding the game's future:

"We'll continue producing content as long as players remain engaged and support the game through Super Credits purchases. Last year's challenges made long-term support uncertain, but we've turned things around thanks to community support."

Independent Future Projects

Jorjani confirmed that Arrowhead's next project will be self-funded:

"We'll maintain complete creative control over our next game." This indicates the studio won't be partnering with Sony or other publishers for their subsequent title.

Reflecting on development processes, Jorjani shared:

"Most games aren't fun during early development phases. For Helldivers 2, the eight-year process was challenging. Our next project will benefit from lessons learned - we're focusing on perfecting core mechanics first."

Sustaining a Live Service Game

Production director Alex Bolle emphasized the studio's long-term vision:

"We're committed to maintaining Helldivers 2 for years to come. As we refine our live service approach, we'll introduce innovative systems that stay true to the game's identity."

Industry reports suggest upcoming content expansions, including a potential Super Earth map as the Illuminate invasion progresses.
