The Voodoo Doll is considered one of the safer Cursed Possessions in Phasmophobia due to its favorable risk-reward ratio. Although game updates may have altered some of its benefits, it remains a valuable asset for players.

The primary function of the Voodoo Doll is to provoke the ghost into performing evidence-related actions. This is achieved by inserting pins into the doll, one at a time. It's particularly useful for dealing with ghosts that are difficult to engage, as it can prompt them to produce evidence such as EMF5 readings or Ultraviolet prints.

There are 10 pins available to insert into the doll, each action carrying its own risks. Each pin insertion depletes 5% of the user's sanity, meaning that using all pins could drain up to 50% of your sanity, significantly increasing the likelihood of a ghost hunt.

The most significant risk is associated with the pin located in the doll's heart. Inserting pins is random, and if you happen to insert the heart pin, it will decrease your sanity by an additional 10% and trigger an immediate Cursed Hunt. During a Cursed Hunt, the ghost will spawn near your location and hunt for an extended period, 20 seconds longer than normal hunts.

Despite these risks, the Voodoo Doll can be a valuable tool for gathering evidence, provided you are well-prepared.

What Are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?

Cursed Possessions, also known as "Cursed Objects," are unique items in Phasmophobia that randomly appear on any map, with their spawn rates influenced by difficulty settings or specific modes like Challenge Mode.

Unlike regular equipment, which helps locate the ghost and gather evidence with minimal risk, Cursed Objects serve as shortcuts or cheats to manipulate ghost behavior, albeit with much higher risks to the player.

The safety of using these objects varies depending on their specific abilities. Players and their teams must weigh the risks and decide whether to utilize them. There's no penalty for not using them, and only one Cursed Possession will spawn per contract, unless modified in Custom settings.

The game features seven different Cursed Objects:

  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
  • Summoning Circle
