Oblivion HD Mods Released

by Eleanor Oct 11,2025

Bethesda confirms The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered lacks official mod support, yet enthusiastic fans have already begun releasing unofficial mods.

Within hours of Bethesda and Virtuos' surprise launch of the Oblivion remake for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, several community mods appeared on Nexus Mods. While mostly cosmetic adjustments, this demonstrates the enduring passion of The Elder Scrolls modding community.

Currently, 22 mods are already available on the platform. The earliest modification replaces the default Oblivion Remastered desktop shortcut with images of the notorious Adoring Fan. Other popular initial tweaks include options to skip intro logos, adjust the Wizard's Fury spell effects, and remove the compass UI.

This spontaneous modding development contrasts with Bethesda's announcement about the absence of official mod tools - confirmed on their official FAQ page. Traditionally supporting mods in their titles, this marks an unusual departure for the studio.

Modder GodschildGaming exemplifies the community's initiative with their Iron Longsword damage adjustment, proving modding capability despite Bethesda's stance. They commented: "This demonstrates modding remains possible. While file structures differ, core principles persist beneath Unreal Engine's surface."
