While a Nintendo Switch version of Palworld isn't entirely off the table, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe has voiced concerns regarding the technical hurdles involved in porting the game.

Palworld's Development and Future Platforms

In a recent interview, Mizobe discussed the complexities of bringing Palworld to the Switch, citing significant technical challenges. While discussions are underway regarding potential releases on "new platforms," no concrete announcements are forthcoming. The game's demanding PC specifications present a considerable obstacle for a Switch port.

Mizobe remains optimistic about expanding Palworld's reach to other platforms, although he hasn't specified whether PlayStation, other Nintendo consoles, or mobile devices are under consideration. Earlier this year, he confirmed discussions were ongoing to bring the game to additional platforms. He also clarified that while Pocketpair is open to partnerships or acquisitions, they haven't engaged in buyout negotiations with Microsoft.

Enhancing Palworld's Multiplayer Experience

Beyond platform considerations, Mizobe expressed a desire to enhance Palworld's multiplayer aspects. An upcoming arena mode, described as an "experiment," will pave the way for more extensive multiplayer features. Mizobe's ambition is to incorporate a full-fledged PvP mode, drawing inspiration from the gameplay of popular survival titles like Ark and Rust. These games are known for their challenging environments, intricate resource management, and robust player interaction systems, including alliances and tribal dynamics.

Palworld's successful launch, with 15 million PC copies sold in its first month and 10 million players on Xbox Game Pass, underscores its popularity. A major update, including the free Sakurajima update launching Thursday, will introduce a new island, the highly anticipated PvP arena, and more.
