PSA: Days Gone Remastered $10 PS5 Upgrade Not Available for Game Redemptions via PS Plus
Days Gone Remastered was a highlight of Sony's recent State of Play showcase, but its $10 upgrade price tag has left some PlayStation Plus subscribers less than thrilled. Sony's confirmed that this discounted upgrade to the PlayStation 5 remaster is only available to those who originally purchased the PlayStation 4 version – either digitally or on disc. This excludes players who acquired Days Gone through PlayStation Plus, meaning they'll need to pay the full $49.99 price.
(Days Gone was previously offered through the now-defunct PS Plus Collection and as an Essential monthly game in April 2021.)
This pricing detail has sparked considerable online discussion, with many PS Plus subscribers voicing their disappointment on platforms like the PlayStation Plus subreddit. Many commenters expressed willingness to pay the $10 upgrade fee but will now skip the game entirely.
“They would actually have made a decent chunk of change if PS Plus players were eligible,” noted squarejellyfish\_, “even if most didn’t want to play it, they’d at least be interested in paying 10 bucks to try it out for an hour or two.” Similar sentiments were echoed by other users, highlighting the potential lost revenue from this restrictive upgrade policy. Several users stated they would have paid the $10 upgrade but are unwilling to pay full price for the remaster.
“They gave away the game for free, so every copy is an extra £10/$10 they wouldn't have had, but they decided to be awkward instead and cut out half the owner base,” commented jackanyon95. “I'm not paying full price, it didn't even need a remaster.”

However, some PS Plus subscribers suggest Sony likely conducted financial analysis supporting this decision. Despite this, Sony is facing criticism for what some hardcore fans perceive as a lack of generosity.
