A remake of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion will have big changes to game mechanics
A recent report by MP1st reveals details about an unannounced remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, gleaned from the portfolio of an anonymous former Virtuos Studios developer. This remake, built using Unreal Engine 5, promises significant gameplay overhauls.
The portfolio highlights a complete reimagining of Oblivion's core mechanics. Expect substantial changes to stamina management, stealth mechanics, attack blocking (inspired by Soulslike games to address the original's perceived shortcomings), archery, damage feedback, and the user interface. The damage system has been reworked for more impactful visual reactions to combat. Improvements to the UI and archery systems are also planned, aligning with modern game design trends.
MP1st suggests that initial plans, hinted at in leaked Microsoft documents, may have been for a simple remaster, but the project has evolved into a full-fledged remake.
While sources confirm the Oblivion remake won't feature in the upcoming Developer_Direct, rumors suggest a potential release within the year.
