R.E.P.O Console Release Announced

The co-op horror game *R.E.P.O.*, which launched in February and has attracted over 200,000 players on PC, has sparked interest among console gamers. However, fans eager to play *R.E.P.O.* on their consoles might be disappointed to learn that there are currently no plans for a console release.

Is R.E.P.O. Going to Come to Consoles?

At this point, *R.E.P.O.* remains exclusively available on PC, and there's no indication from the developer, semiwork, that a console version is in the works. The team at semiwork is currently focused on refining the game’s multiplayer features, which have encountered some challenges. A significant hurdle they're facing is the issue of cheating in multiplayer lobbies.

According to statements from the developers via PCGamer, they're grappling with the dilemma of implementing an anti-cheat system that could potentially disrupt the experience for players using mods. "The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you're ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don't work with an anti-cheat system. And we don't want that," they explained. This problem needs resolution before any console port can be considered.

While other PC-exclusive titles like *Mouthwashing* have successfully transitioned to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, which simplifies the process. Similarly themed games such as *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, which also involve sneaking past monsters, have stayed PC-only. Last year, the developers of *Content Warning* mentioned considering a console release but cited technical difficulties as a barrier. There has been no further update on this front.

In summary, the developer of *R.E.P.O.* has not shown any interest in bringing the game to consoles, prioritizing instead the improvement of the PC version's multiplayer experience.
