Silent Hill 2 Remake Sells 2.5M, Series Tops 10M

by Connor Nov 11,2025

Konami has shared a new sales milestone for its acclaimed Silent Hill 2 Remake, confirming the game has now reached 2.5 million copies sold worldwide a little over a year after its release.

This marks an increase from the 1 million copies the Silent Hill remake sold in its first week alone.

Reaching this updated milestone means the 26-year-old Silent Hill franchise has now surpassed 10 million units shipped, even after lying dormant for more than a decade.

As reported by Gematsu, the announcement came through a Konami News video report that mainly highlighted the latest release, Silent Hill f, which also received a positive response last month. At the start of the video, a text pop-up states: “The Silent Hill series has shipped over 10 million copies, and [Silent Hill f’s] predecessor, Silent Hill 2, has shipped over 2.5 million copies.”

Silent Hill 2 is a reimagining of the 2001 psychological horror classic, following protagonist James Sunderland as he visits the foreboding town after receiving a mysterious letter from his deceased wife, Mary. IGN’s review of the Silent Hill 2 Remake scored it 8/10, calling it “a welcome modernization of a survival horror masterpiece.” The review for Silent Hill f gave it a 7/10, praising the “fresh new setting and compelling dark story” while noting that its “melee-focused combat swings big but doesn’t quite connect.”

It’s also worth noting that Silent Hill 2 Remake is set to join the PlayStation Plus Extra catalog later this month. The game arrives on October 21—just in time for Halloween—alongside other chilling titles like Until Dawn (PS5 version), V Rising, Poppy Playtime: Chapter 1, As Dusk Falls, Wizard with a Gun, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Premium Plus subscribers will also gain access to Tekken 3.
