Trump Tariffs Force Razer Gaming Laptop Discontinuation

by Liam Nov 13,2025

The import tariffs introduced by the Trump administration are once again creating challenges for U.S. gamers, with Razer’s Blade 16 gaming laptop among the latest affected.

Tariffs function as taxes applied to the cost of imported goods. Although companies in the supply chain may sometimes absorb these expenses, the additional costs are usually handed down to the consumer. Unfortunately for gaming enthusiasts, these price hikes are expected to hit technology and gaming products particularly hard.

Some items are even being temporarily removed from the market. As reported by The Verge, although the Blade 16 was available for purchase in the U.S. as recently as April 1, the option to buy the laptop has now been completely removed from Razer’s official site.

While European customers can currently order the latest model (where stock permits—it's currently unavailable in the UK), the U.S. website only offers a “Notify Me” option for updates, with no pricing information available. Attempting to purchase takes users to a 404 error page.

Razer is not alone in quietly suspending sales amid market uncertainty. Tariffs targeting China and Taiwan—key manufacturing hubs for PC components—are set to impact U.S. buyers as well. Memory producer Micron has warned about potential price increases, and PC manufacturer Framework has “temporarily paused” some U.S. sales entirely.

Last week, pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2—previously listed with an April 9 availability date—were removed in the United States following market instability caused by President Trump’s import tariffs. The issue quickly extended to Canada, where Nintendo Canada confirmed pre-order delays as well.

Nintendo fans and industry analysts now worry that Nintendo may raise the price of the Switch 2 and its games beyond initial projections, especially as the company faces criticism over its pricing strategy after the console’s announcement.
