World of Warcraft is introducing the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and Golden Ashes of Al'ar mounts as rewards for two exclusive promotions in China. These stunning mounts, unavailable elsewhere, are re-imagined versions of the incredibly rare Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al'ar.
Following the successful renewal of their partnership last year, NetEase and Blizzard brought World of Warcraft, Diablo IV, and Overwatch 2 back to China. This return was celebrated with initiatives like a Lightforged Gorehowl statue and the Xiao Liu pet.
Now, WoW China players are treated to new versions of highly sought-after mounts. The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and Golden Ashes of Al'ar are re-colored and re-designed versions of the Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al'ar—two of the rarest mounts in the game. Both mounts are obtainable through separate promotions in China, starting January 15th, and will reportedly be usable in both modern and Classic WoW.
New Chinese World of Warcraft Promotion Mounts
- Blazing Royal Fire Hawk
- Golden Ashes of Al'ar
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk closely resembles the Pureblood Fire Hawk (a rare drop from Ragnaros in WoW: Cataclysm's Firelands raid). However, while airborne, auspicious clouds ("xiangyun") adorn its wings—symbols representing peace, immortality, and good fortune in Chinese culture for over 3,000 years. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar is a gilded version of the original Ashes of Al'ar (a phoenix mount dropped by Kael'thas Sunstrider in The Burning Crusade's The Eye raid), featuring a stylish black saddle and flavor text echoing Kael'thas' iconic line: "The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback."
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk is acquired through an event called the Treasure Workshop (details are currently limited). The Golden Ashes of Al'ar is obtained from Landro's Loot Box, a ¥200 (approximately $27) crate containing one of eight items. Other prestigious rewards, including the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the Swift Spectral Tiger (an extremely rare mount from WoW's discontinued TCG), are also possible. Players can team up for bonus crates based on combined spending.
Unlike the Xiao Liu pet, there's currently no indication of an international release for the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk or Golden Ashes of Al'ar, though it remains a possibility. For now, players outside China can only admire these magnificent mounts.
