Deadlock Gets a Big Update from Valve

by Hazel Mar 19,2025

Valve has released a major update for Deadlock, completely revamping its core map design. The four-lane structure is gone, replaced by a three-lane layout more in line with traditional MOBAs. This fundamental shift will dramatically alter gameplay. Previously, a common strategy involved a "1 vs 2" lane distribution; now, expect to see two heroes per lane, necessitating revised team strategies and resource allocation.

The map's redesign extends to neutral camps, buffs, and other key locations. To help players adapt, a new "map exploration" mode has been added, allowing solo exploration of the revised layout without the pressure of combat.

This patch also overhauls the Soul Orb system. Players can now accumulate souls even without directly securing the killing blow, leading to faster resource acquisition. Soul effects have also been tweaked, reducing hover times.

Further improvements include refined sprint mechanics, character balance adjustments, and enhanced support for technologies like DLSS, FSR, NVIDIA Reflex, and Anti-Lag 2.0. Performance optimizations and numerous bug fixes round out this substantial update. For a comprehensive list of changes, consult the official patch notes.
