LEGO Launches In-House Gaming Projects

by Samuel Apr 22,2025

LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has shared ambitious plans to enhance the company's footprint in the digital realm, particularly in the video game sector. The iconic toy maker is set to develop video games both independently and in collaboration with other studios, aiming to offer engaging experiences for fans of all ages across both digital and physical platforms.

“We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing.” - Niels Christiansen

This strategic move into in-house game development does not preclude LEGO from continuing to license its brand to third-party developers. For example, recent reports from journalist Jason Schreier indicate that TT Games, renowned for its LEGO-themed titles, is currently developing a new LEGO game, possibly linked to one of Warner Bros.’ popular franchises.

LEGO’s most notable gaming endeavor to date is its partnership with Epic Games. The introduction of a LEGO-themed mode in Fortnite last year became an instant hit, significantly boosting the game's popularity.

In addition to this, LEGO has a storied history with TT Games, the developer behind the successful LEGO adventure game series. Although new releases have been sparse recently, there are whispers of a new LEGO Harry Potter game on the horizon, buoyed by the commercial success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Further showcasing LEGO's versatility in gaming, the company teamed up with 2K Games to launch LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game that debuted last year. This collaboration underscores LEGO's commitment to diversifying its gaming portfolio and engaging fans across various genres.
