Lies of P Director Choi Ji-Won has expressed a renewed sense of creativity after experiencing Elden Ring: Nightreign’s network test. During the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Choi shared his thoughts with Eurogamer about the evolving Souls genre. His admiration for FromSoftware's work is clear in the design of Lies of P.

Reflecting on Elden Ring: Nightreign, Choi said, "I've tried [Nightreign] and it was very refreshing and new. It's evident that FromSoftware continues to push boundaries with their imagination and vision. This experience motivated me to ensure that Overture delivers the best possible experience for our players."

Choi also indicated an openness to exploring multiplayer game development in the future, stating, "In terms of our future endeavors, we are definitely open to any sort of consideration."

While a fan of FromSoftware, Choi clarified to Games Radar+ at the 2025 GDC that his inspirations are diverse. He explained, "I'm influenced by a wide range of games. The various experiences and inspirations I gather from different titles help shape the unique Lies of P experience. It's a blend of many influences that I transform into something special for our fans."

Choi revealed that the Overture DLC is expected to take 15-20 hours for experienced players to complete, packed with numerous bosses and content that the team initially wanted to include in the base game. He shared, "Overture is intricately connected to the base game, making its development a challenging yet rewarding effort to enhance the Lies of P experience."

Set as a prequel, Overture takes players back to the final days of Krat, following a legendary Stalker. It incorporates new ideas, player feedback, and unused concepts from the game's initial development. Choi likened Overture to a Director's Cut, suggesting it completes the Lies of P narrative.

He further noted, "Upon releasing the base game, we prioritized quality, which meant we couldn't include everything at once. The support from our community inspired us to deliver more in this expansion."

In an interview with IGN at the 2025 GDC, Choi clarified that Overture does not directly connect to the final cutscene of the base game. While the end of Lies of P hinted at potential future directions for the series, Choi confirmed in a November 2023 Director’s Letter that a sequel is in the works, though details remain scarce.

Choi reassured fans, saying, "When we share news or media about future projects, it will be because we are ready to present it to you. Our focus remains on delivering quality despite any pressures."
