Oblivion Remastered Patch Sparks Visual Issues; Bethesda Vows Swift Fix

by Gabriel May 12,2026

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered PC players encountered problems after an unannounced update rolled out today, with Bethesda promising a quick resolution.

Gamers discovered that Virtuos’ major re-release received an unexpected patch this morning. Without patch notes or clarity on its purpose, many continued their sessions as usual. However, some quickly realized the first Oblivion Remastered update introduced more issues than it resolved.

Yoooo why would @virtuosgames push an update to Oblivion Remastered that removes all upscaling right before the games first weekend?!!?

“Upscaling options are gone,” a Reddit user noted. “It’s locked to ‘off,’ and clicking the arrows does nothing. I closed the game, turned off fluid motion in the NVidia app (was experimenting pre-patch), and restarted. Save file load times are long again, and upscaling settings are still inaccessible lol.

“Now I’m stuck at 40-60 fps on high settings with a 5800X3D and a 5080. Great patch :D”

While some players report stable performance, others face new challenges with low framerates. Many have also found upscaling settings entirely disabled, creating significant visual problems as Oblivion Remastered’s debut weekend approaches.

Bethesda responded to player concerns via a post on its official support page. The update, intended to include “minor backend adjustments with no direct gameplay impact,” has caused issues primarily for Microsoft Store users, affecting upscaling and anti-aliasing options.

“Graphics settings applied before the Microsoft Store patch remain active and work as intended,” Bethesda stated. “However, the settings UI issue temporarily prevents adjustments. Our team is investigating and will provide updates soon.”
