How To Fix Marvel Rivals Compiling Shaders Slow on Launch

by Ellie Feb 11,2025

Many Marvel Rivals players on PC experience extended shader compilation times upon launch, sometimes lasting several minutes. This guide offers a solution to expedite this process.

Addressing Slow Shader Compilation in Marvel Rivals

Game load times can vary, but Marvel Rivals' lengthy shader compilation is proving frustrating for many. Shaders are crucial for proper 3D rendering, and incorrect installation can lead to various issues. While the game may appear to be functioning correctly, this slow compilation significantly impacts the player experience.

A community-discovered workaround effectively resolves this problem:

  1. Access Nvidia Control Panel: Locate and open your Nvidia Control Panel.
  2. Adjust Shader Cache Size: Navigate to the global settings and find the Shader Cache Size option.
  3. Set a Lower Value: Select a value less than or equal to your VRAM. The available options are limited (5 GB, 10 GB, and 100 GB), so choose the closest appropriate size.

This adjustment not only reduces shader compilation time to a few seconds but also eliminates the "Out of VRAM memory" error reported by some users.

While a permanent fix from NetEase Games is awaited, this temporary solution provides a significant improvement in game loading speed. Until an official patch is released, this method is highly recommended to avoid extended wait times.

Marvel Rivals is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
