Palworld Free To Play Talks Shut Down, Devs Confirm It \"Will Remain Buy-to-Play\"

Following reports of potential model changes, Palworld developer Pocketpair has officially confirmed that the game will remain a buy-to-play title, dismissing speculation of a shift to free-to-play (F2P) or games-as-a-service (GaaS).

In a recent statement on Twitter (X), Pocketpair clarified its position: "Palworld will remain buy-to-play and not transition to F2P or GaaS." This follows an earlier interview where the developer explored various future possibilities, including a live service model. Pocketpair emphasized that while internal discussions regarding long-term growth continue, a F2P/GaaS approach is unsuitable for Palworld's current design.

The developer reassured fans that their feedback is prioritized, stating the current model is not easily adaptable and doesn't align with player preferences. Pocketpair remains committed to delivering the best possible Palworld experience and apologized for any anxiety caused by previous reports. Future plans include exploring paid content such as skins and DLC to fund ongoing development, with further community discussion promised as these plans solidify.

The previously reported interview with ASCII Japan, where CEO Takuro Mizobe discussed future plans, was conducted several months ago, the studio clarified. Mizobe's comments about future content updates, including new Pals and raid bosses, remain valid.

Finally, a potential PS5 version of Palworld was reportedly listed in announcements for the Tokyo Game Show 2024 (TGS 2024). However, as noted by Gematsu, this list from the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) isn't definitive.
