Application Description

Tichu is an engaging multi-genre card game that seamlessly blends elements of Bridge, Daihinmin, and Poker, offering a unique experience for players. Designed for four players divided into two teams, with partners sitting opposite each other, Tichu challenges teams to work collaboratively to score points and take the lead. The ultimate goal is for one team to reach a predetermined point total, set before the game begins.

The game utilizes a 56-card deck, divided into four suits: Jade, Swords, Pagodas, and Stars. Each suit includes cards numbered from 2 to 10, followed by J, Q, K, and A. Additionally, the deck features four special cards: the Dragon, the Phoenix, the Hound, and the Mah Jong, each adding a strategic layer to the gameplay.

At the start, each player is dealt eight cards and has the option to call "Grand Tichu," a bold 200-point bet that the caller will be the first to play all their cards. After this decision, the remaining six cards are dealt, and players can no longer call Grand Tichu. However, they can still call "Tichu" before playing their first card, betting 100 points on being the first to go out. The key differences between Grand Tichu and Tichu lie in the timing of the call, the number of cards seen, and the points at stake.

Once all cards are distributed, players enter the exchange phase, passing one card face down to each of the other three players, receiving three cards in return. This exchange adds a strategic element, allowing players to refine their hands before the trick-taking begins.

The player holding the Mah Jong leads the first trick, playing any valid combination. Other players can then either pass or play a higher-value combination of the same type. The hierarchy includes single cards, pairs, sequences, full houses, and the powerful "Bombs," which can override any other play. The player who wins a trick by playing the highest combination collects the trick and leads the next one. The round continues until two players from the same team have no cards left, signaling the end of the round.

If a player is the last one with cards, they incur a penalty, handing over their remaining cards to the opponent's won tricks deck, while their own won tricks are awarded to the player who went out first.

Tichu's captivating gameplay concludes when one team reaches or surpasses the agreed-upon point total, cementing their victory.
