Duck Bucket Arrives in REPO to Fight Dreaded Duck

REPO

REPO's developers have unveiled their roadmap for the game, introducing a "duck bucket" to prevent the infamous duck from eliminating players. Discover more about these upcoming features and the reaction from Lethal Company's creator.

Details of REPO's First Major Update

Duck Bucket: Your Defense Against The Duck

REPO

The initial update for REPO introduces a new map and a "duck bucket" to help players neutralize the duck threat. Semiwork Studios shared a YouTube video on March 15th outlining these planned improvements.

REPO is a cooperative horror game for up to six players, challenging teams to carefully extract items in a terrifying environment. Players must watch out for The Apex Predator—a small yellow duck that, when disturbed, transforms into a deadly monster for ten seconds before reverting.

Soon, players will have access to a "duck bucket" to trap the duck and prevent it from stalking the team. This tool also helps avoid accidental activation of the duck's monster form by teammates. The update will also bring new facial expressions and various quality-of-life enhancements.

New "The Museum" Map and Public Lobbies

REPO

Semiwork Studios has announced a new map titled "The Museum," designed to test players' parkour abilities. Extraction zones will now feature visible borders to clarify whether collected loot is within the extraction boundary.

The team is also developing public lobbies, taking player feedback into account. "Since most players are open to matchmaking with both public and private hosting options, along with a kick feature, that's our current focus. Adding a kick button may seem straightforward, but it requires server-side coding, which is new territory for us," the developers explained.

However, implementing this system presents challenges, so this feature may arrive later than expected.

Lethal Company Creator's Feedback on REPO

Since its February release, REPO has drawn comparisons to Lethal Company due to shared mechanics and themes. On March 15th, Lethal Company's creator, Zeekerss, offered constructive feedback for REPO's future development.

He tweeted, "REPO is fun. Initially, I wasn't sure because the movement felt slow and voice chat range was too limited. But coordinating with a team to move a grand piano through a tight mansion without scratching it—that's a brilliantly humorous goal for a horror game." In follow-up comments, he added, "I'll share more on Patreon, but key points: 1. Increase voice chat range and reduce the muffling effect. 2. Expansive, open levels don't fit the game's design as well as tighter spaces like the mansion layout."

Responding to a comment about enemies approaching silently, Zeekerss noted, "There should be an in-game method to learn enemy behaviors, though I'm sure the developers have that planned."

R.E.P.O. is the newest viral cooperative horror game, available only on PC. It currently ranks as the second top-selling game on Steam, behind Counter-Strike 2. SteamDB reports over 230,645 concurrent players, nearing Lethal Company's peak of 240,817. For the latest R.E.P.O. news, check out our article below!
