Breaking News: Shadows Campaign Intensification Announced

Assassin's Creed Valhalla's extensive playtime has been a point of contention among players. Ubisoft acknowledges this feedback and promises a more streamlined experience in Assassin's Creed Mirage.

Game director Charles Benoit stated that completing Mirage's main storyline will take approximately 50 hours, with full completion (including all side content) estimated at 100 hours. This is a significant reduction compared to Valhalla's 60+ hour main story and potential 150+ hour full completion.

The development team has prioritized a refined balance between narrative progression and optional activities, aiming to avoid overwhelming players with excessive side quests. The goal is to deliver a less tedious, yet richly detailed and narratively engaging experience.

Ubisoft aims to cater to diverse player preferences. Those seeking extensive gameplay won't sacrifice depth for brevity, while players focused on the main story can complete it without an immense time commitment.

Director Jonathan Dumont highlighted the impact of the team's research trip to Japan. The scale and detail of Japanese castles, mountainous landscapes, and dense forests profoundly influenced the game's design. This led to a focus on heightened realism and meticulous detail.

A key change involves world geography. Travel times between points of interest will be longer, creating a more expansive and natural open world. However, this increased travel distance will be offset by significantly richer and more nuanced locations. Unlike Odyssey's densely packed points of interest, Mirage will feature a more realistic spatial distribution, enhancing immersion and the overall sense of place. Dumont emphasizes Mirage's superior level of detail, promising a truly immersive Japanese atmosphere.
